Final post – fun at the cottage
We soaked up the beautiful scenery, caught fish (including an estimated 28 inch pike caught by yours truly), burned leaves, boiled water on a “hobo stove”, made bonfires, watched Star Wars, read books, ate top-notch chili and pie, unplugged from the technical world, visited with loved ones…does it get any better than that?
Or perhaps your speed is more eating homemade chicken/mushroom/noodle casserole while listening to a Tigers game, followed by a Lions game, on a small handheld radio, while sitting in Adirondack chairs by a bonfire under the stars. Well we did that too

So here is a funny, random thing about these pictures. Because it was so bright outside a lot of my pictures looked washed out so I decided to hold my sunglasses in front of my camera lens to see if it would work to make the picture not so harsh. AND I liked it! So I probably looked really strange taking pictures while holding my glasses in front of the camera but I love the pictures that the polarized lenses created! ha!
Part 3: Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive
After our excursion to the dunes, we headed into Empire to visit the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. The Sweeping panoramic views of Lake Michigan and the country side were amazing! Chalk this up to another reason why Michigan is such a beautiful state to live in! I hadn’t been on this drive for many years – probably almost 20! — and I can guarantee that I didn’t appreciate it as much then as I did now! Funny how so many of the little side trips that my Mom and Dad used to take us on, which used to bore me as a kid, I find myself anxiously wanting to take my own kids to go see (And yes Mom and Dad, the boys do not disappoint by offering their own random complaints here and there! ha!).
Unfortunately Michael was not feeling too good after rolling down the sand dunes so he is missed in most of these pictures as he was feeling ill in the back seat of the car (been there!)
However, Erick did not fail to provide me with a source to aim my camera along with the scenery…and just a warning, there is a lot of scenery in this slideshow!

And just for good measure, a little Speedo entertainment…remember, “buckle up — it’s gonna be a tight squeeze!”
